Our mortgage team always makes the same recommendation to our members, and encourages them to take advantage of tools like UECU’s online Rate Tracker and Loan Consultant to plan for their purchase before they begin their house hunting.

I always advise my clients to take their time with mortgage decisions. It makes no sense whatsoever to rush into a decision that will affect your financial future for years to come.

Take your time - and get as much advice as you need.

Following the appearance of our Green Home Improvements article in UECU’s Member News, we’ve been getting some calls from members asking where they find a rain barrel. We applaud you for wanting to conserve some H2O & save on your water bill! Here are a few ideas to get you started…

-Many home improvements and hardware stores sell pre-fabricated rain barrels. If you’re buying online, don’t forget to make use of discounts available to credit union members through the Shop America program at www.lovemycreditunion.org .

-If you’re the handy, do-it-yourself type, search online for rain barrel construction plans. Plus, this time of year, you can often find local workshops on constructing rain barrels or installing ready-made barrels–your county cooperative extension office / agricultural center is a good place to ask–locate your local office at: http://www.csrees.usda.gov/Extension .

-RainBarrelSource.com is a specialty provider of rain barrels and helps you compare different models to find the best fit for your home: http://www.RainBarrelSource.com .
